Station Adopters

What is a Station Adopter?

Local railway stations are at the heart of the community, and we want them to be welcoming, clean, and well-maintained.

This is where station adoption plays a vital role. Station adopters are volunteers who help maintain their local stations—keeping an eye out for unusual activity, reporting faults, tending to gardens, and ensuring the station remains presentable. Their efforts make a huge difference to every passenger, creating a more inviting and safer environment for all.

Why Become a Station Adopter?

Becoming a station adopter allows you to enhance your local railway station, creating a more welcoming and vibrant space for passengers. It also offers personal benefits, such as connecting with your community, learning new skills, and contributing to environmental sustainability.

How do I become a Station Adopter?

To become a station adopter and to join us in improving your local community then you can contact us on info@robinhoodline.com to express your interest.

Station Projects

A station project is any initiative designed to improve and enhance a railway station, making it more accessible, welcoming, and beneficial to the community. These projects can range from environmental efforts, such as sustainable landscaping, to artistic collaborations, infrastructure upgrades, and accessibility improvements. Whether it’s creating vibrant murals, installing better seating, or running educational programs, station projects help transform stations into valuable community spaces.

You can view some of our current projects below, with more in our Annual Reports, and if you’d like to get involved please get in touch with us by emailing info@robinhoodline.com to express your interest.

Whitwell Community Sensory Garden

Nestled beside Whitwell Station, the Community Sensory Garden is more than just a green space – it’s a vibrant, inclusive sanctuary where nature, community, and creativity come together. A community sensory garden it offers a calming and accessible space for everyone – whether you’re enjoying a quiet moment, walking the dog, or chatting with neighbours.
Thanks to the dedication of the Just Good Friends Club, local businesses, schools, and volunteers, what was once a forgotten patch of land has blossomed into a garden full of life, learning, and connection. From school planting days to social gatherings and seasonal displays, there’s always something happening here.

We warmly invite you to be part of this growing community project. Whether you love gardening, crafting, socialising, or just being outdoors, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

Rail Trails Bolsover

Rail Trails Bolsover

We’re excited to launch the Rail Trails – Bolsover Project, a new initiative connecting the Robin Hood Line with local destinations through a network of walking, wheeling, and cycling routes.

This project aims to make active travel easier and more enjoyable – especially for those new to it – by using station stops within Bolsover District as gateways to explore nearby attractions, workplaces, and green spaces.
In partnership with Sustrans and other local organisations, we’ll be running a series of community workshops soon, inviting residents to help shape and test these new trails.

Follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, or X for dates and join us in creating healthier, more connected journeys for everyone.
